ABOUT THE SHOW:

Emma Katherine Treat is a self taught artist based in Northwest Arkansas. Originally from Marietta, Georgia, she developed an early appreciation for the arts and creative expression. She attended the University of Oklahoma, where she earned her doctorate in audiology, and worked as a clinical audiologist for four years before ultimately returning to painting full time.

Emma spent several formative years living in Oklahoma and Texas, where she was immersed in western culture and its enduring visual language. These experiences continue to shape her work, which frequently features cowgirls and western symbolism as central subjects. Her paintings reflect a personal interpretation of the American West, rooted in lived experience and expressed through a contemporary perspective.

Her work is also informed by nature and interior environments, with an emphasis on creating pieces that bring character and presence to a space. Through intentional color, texture, and simplified form, she creates modern western compositions that feel both timeless and distinctly her own. Her paintings reflect a belief in art as an essential and meaningful part of everyday life.
